As a result of the proposed budget cuts by the legislature, it is estimated that:

  • 175,000 people will lose community mental health services, dramatically increasing homelessness, institutionalization and incarceration rates.
  • 65,000 people with alcohol and substance addictions will lose treatment.

Illinois governor, Patrick Quinn, has proposed extreme budget cuts for both mental health and addiction treatment.  IPS is doing everything we can to fight this proposal.

IPS is doing what we can with regard to Healthcare Reform.  Letters have been sent to Senator Durbin, Representative Schakowsky, Congressman Mark Kirk, Congresswoman Judy Biggert, and Congressman Peter Roskam.

Advocating for Illinois State Bills SB 231 and HB 488
Both of these bills have been passed by the Senate and the House of Representatives.  They now await on the desk of Governor Patrick Quinn for his signature.  IPS asks for your support in the pursuance of these two bills.
