Residents Update on Ravinia
Ravinia! Thank you to everyone who turned out for this great event this July. For those of you that don’t know, Ravinia is a wonderful outdoor amphitheatre and festival grounds host to numerous musical acts. This summer several of our residents and practicing docs joined for a lovely day of food, fun, friends and fantastic music. As the Chicago Symphony Orchestra played a wonderful set of classical music, we dined on pot-luck style salads and treats and enjoyed the great weather that we were lucky to have come our way.
Several residents from University of Chicago and Rosalind Franklin were present. The relaxed atmosphere gave us the opportunity to meet our fellow colleagues and catch up with old friends. Residents and fellow IPS members brought their children and spouses to the event and the family style atmosphere was apparent to all.
Prior to the start of the show IPS members were available to talk with the other patrons about IPS, mental health and other questions thrown their way. This was a great opportunity for IPS to get some exposure and reach out to the community we serve; our presence was well received.
Next year we hope to improve upon this great event. We would love to see more residency programs participate. Those of us that attended this year had a great time and are sure to make this an annual event. Stay tuned for more opportunities to enjoy Chicago and meet your fellow colleagues through IPS sponsored events. Long Live Summer!
