Annual Women's Brunch
Sunday, November 8, 2009 - Ritz-Carlton, Chicago
Each year IPS brings together women psychiatrists, psychiatric residents and medical students considering a career in psychiatry to provide an opportunity for networking, mentoring and support from women in the field. Professional women often face a set of challenges that are different from their male counterparts and this is an opportunity for role-modeling and discussion.
This year our theme was International Women’s Health. We heard from an activist, Ms. Martine SongaSonga, originally from Congo who is a founding member of Torture Abolition and Survivors Support Coalition International. She inspired several of our members to speak up and give their opinion about torture and abuse and also to volunteer their services to torture survivors in their area.
